Sacred Heart

The heart represents truth and honesty. The “Sacred” Heart is associated with God’s love and saving grace in Roman Catholicism. The “heartache” of unrequited love is supposed to be symbolized as an arrow piercing the heart. Alchemists and those who worked with magic and the supernatural in the past employed heart symbols in chants, spells, and summons related to romance, love, and sexual attraction. Heart symbols were used in rituals to strengthen bonds between people and even to force an unwilling individual to fall helplessly in love with the “enchanter” or “enchantress,” depending on the situation.
