Yellow Sand Symbol

Symbol of anti-government and protection.

In the early 1900s, the Yellow Sand Society was created in China as a secret society. The Yellow Sand Society was a millennial cult that thought that only Yellow Sand Society members would be saved during the approaching Armageddon in 1919. They were opposed to government involvement and tax increases. They took part in numerous uprisings, but were usually crushed. Secret societies were illegal when the People’s Republic of China was founded, but members of the Yellow Sand Society were still active in the 1980s. The Yellow Sand Society intended to bring the Ming Dynasty back to its former glory. They claimed they were immune to gunshots because of magic. During uprisings, they carried a yellow flag. The Yellow Sand Society desired for all people to live in a state of happiness and fairness.
