The word ka means “soul” or “spirit” in English. When a person is born, he or she becomes the ka. The ram-headed god Khnum was said to have created the ka on his potter’s wheel at the time of a person’s birth. When someone died, it was assumed that they “met their ka.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a person’s body died, their soul would live on. Because the ka needed a somewhere to reside, some tombs incorporated model houses. Food and drink offerings would be left at the tomb door for the ka to eat and drink.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
