Shell

The Shell represents the protective part of love, with its hard covering inside which it safeguards life in the form of pearls. In different cultures, it has had slightly different symbolism. The Romans saw seashells as symbols of renewal. Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love and Fertility, is sometimes represented rising from a scallop shell after being fashioned from the foam carried ashore by the shell. The conch shell has long been connected with ancient Hindus calling out to love-filled hearts and rousing the devout. Seashells have also been utilized by Native Americans to represent fertility and love.
